FOX ISLAND's rich history is equally matched by its natural shape, beauty and BREATHTAKING views of Mt. Rainier! (I swear it's the backdrop of a recent Toyota commercial) Known also for its kayak and paddelboard friendly coves and shoreline, the island also boasts a fantastic bridge and some of the better fishing and crabbing in the area.

WOLLOCHET BAY is the best bay for a pirate ship to hide from storms and enemy vessels, while still being close enough to I-5 to pillage all the meats at ARRRRBY's!. A favorite place locals love dropping their crab pots for Dungeness males, this tucked-away bay is just a hop-skip-and-a-jump to the best fishing holes for trolling and mooching as well. Of course its also an attractive location to kayak and SUP (stand-up paddleboard), so paddlers love this area and its proximity to nearby Fox Island! Well...Shiver me timberrrrs! Below the water, Wollochet's sea floor gives way to dynamic topography, while above the water it's shoreline is long enough to have room for a sprawling natural landscape and some very large, beautiful homes.

THE NARROWS has our largest bridge, spanning Tacoma to Gig Harbor (E-W) and providing the border of Area 13, where it abuts Area 11 (N-S). The original bridge earned the nickname "Galloping Gerty" because it collapsed, however its replacement bridge & newer sister bridge are still standing tall! The waters are typically rough in the Narrows, so it's not a very safe place to kayak or paddleboard. Most other areas I have showcased do not have the LARGE boat traffic like the Narrows. Large vessels means large wakes me hardies, especially freighterrrrs! The good news however is the views are spectacular in Hale Passage so you don't even need to paddle outside of it to feel the full experience of the area's unique landscapes, luscious evergreens, and MT. RAINIER!
